Victorian 1859 'Ansell' Sovereign

Queen Victoria (1837-1901) - This extremely rare sovereign is rated as R4 in the 'Michael Marsh' book 'The Gold Sovereign' and it is believed that just 15-25 are left in existence from the original mintage of 167,539. Struck with a 'brittle' gold and featuring an extra line within the ribbon  of Victoria's head band this type was minted for just the one year. This makes the coin extremely collectible and understandably sought after.

This example is highly polished and has sustained some expected wear, however the sovereign is so rare that most of our collecting customers will find themselves tempted by the sovereigns desirability and this attractive price.
