King George IV (1820-1830) - If you are searching for a rare coin, they don't come much rarer than this! The beautiful and sought after 1821 half sovereign is not only a one year type, but there are just 9 to 14 examples known (R5 Michael Marsh Book). The original mintage was 231,288 which is a tiny mintage in comparison to other years of his reign. The obverse features the 'Laurel head portrait' of the king, and the reverse the ornately garnished shield bearing the Ensigns Armorial of the United Kingdom. A superb coin for any collection and a great centre piece coin!
