Queen Elizabeth II (1952-present day) - The gold Britannia series was first issued in 1987 and in fairly large quantities. The new strikes included the ten pound, twenty-five pound, fifty pound and one hundred pound coin all struck in 22ct gold. These beautifully designed coins were popular with collectors and the success determined the continuation of the series. The Britannia series is still struck today and remains a highly collectible set.
