In the last twenty years 'slabbing' has become extremely popular for many different reasons. Firstly, grading a coin can be somewhat subjective depending on whether you are buying or selling an item. Human nature dictates that when we are looking to buy something we might view it somewhat more critically than when we are selling. However, it has to be said that over the years of buying and selling slabbed coins the grading is not always consistent and there have been some occasions when frankly we have totally disagreed with the grade of slabbed coins. Secondly, it confirms the coin to be genuine and not fake. We all know fakes exist, and I know of renowned coin dealers that have been caught out over the years with fake coins. Whether you like or dislike slabbed coins they are here to stay, and they are quickly becoming THE only way to buy for some collectors and investors alike.
